Cleaning Granite Countertops

Heather Vance from Indoor City explains how to maintain granite countertops.

Sealing Needed
Granite is a porous stone, and it can stain more easily than quartz countertops. As a result, it is sealed when it is installed to stop moisture penetration, staining, and bacteria growth.

That sealer will last between 12 and 18 months, after which we recommend resealing with STONETECH Sealer, a DuPont product available at our showroom and your local hardware store.

To use STONETECH, take everything off your countertops and clean them. Then put this sealer on and let it soak. After about 15 minutes, just wipe off the excess—anything that doesn’t soak in isn’t needed. Let it dry for several hours before you use your kitchen again.

Daily Cleaning
You can use a product called Revitalizer every day to clean your kitchen counters. It will not seal countertops as well as the STONETECH sealer, but it will give them a little extra protection.
