What We Learned at the 2023 International Builders’ Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show

There is no better place for a homebuilder to find inspiration than at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) which is the largest trade show for kitchen and bath design in North America, and the International Builders’ show (IBS) which is the largest annual light construction show in the world.

EGStoltzfus Homes headed to Las Vegas for the big events, which boasted the highest attendance in their 10-year history with over 100,000 visitors and more than 1,500 exhibitors.

EGS attendees included Stephanie Lachance, Design Studio Consultant; Mike Hockenberry, Director of Residential Construction & Customer Service; and Bill Patrick, Director of Sales & Business Development.

After returning from an action-packed week of networking, learning, and taking in the latest industry trends, our team shared their top takeaways from the experience:

Building Is Back and Better Than Ever

There is no question that the building industry is back and better than ever. Energy and enthusiasm at the shows were off the charts with standing-room-only education sessions, over-the-top booth displays, and excitement everywhere about the future of the kitchen, bath, and construction.

Embrace Color

Bright colors and design patterns stole the spotlight this year. From cabinets and backsplash to appliances, consumers are moving away from the neutral grays and creams and embracing bold, vibrant hues. Jewel tones, cobalt, and emeralds were trending as were tone-on-tone styles and statement designs such as marble and quartz countertop and furniture pieces with prominent veining.

Technology Rules

Technology was everywhere you looked. Whether it was home automation for the consumer, builder software, 3D modeling, or VR home plans, there’s no doubt that tech is a big player in the future of the building industry.

Prioritizing Wellness

Post-COVID consumers are focused on wellness and looking to integrate products into their homes that will benefit their physical and mental health. More and more brands are offering products that leave a positive impact on personal wellbeing and the environment. From natural lighting innovation to air quality systems, wellness features will become an important consideration when planning home space and selecting products.

Phygital Is Where It’s At

Phygital is one of the newer sales and marketing trends taking over many industries, including residential building and home design. The term refers to the blending of both physical and digital elements to create a seamless buying experience for the consumer. EGS will soon launch a new Phygital resource that will elevate our clients’ homebuilding journeys. Stay tuned for details.
